Marisa has worked at nonprofits throughout her career, primarily in reproductive health and justice and immigration, in every role from Administrative Assistant to Executive Director.

In 2020, she co-founded Apiary for Practical Support, the only national hub for organizations helping people travel for their abortion care, while also working with an international diabetes organization to open a US office. In 2024, she co-created the Abortion Mobilization Project with three other abortion access organizations to centralize volunteer opportunities across the country.

Marisa has worked in nonprofits for over 15 years in a breadth of roles: Chief of Staff at Abortion AF (née Lady Parts Justice League); Development and Communications Manager at HIAS Pennsylvania; Board Member at Neighborhood Bike Works; AmeriCorps VISTA at SEAMAAC. She has organized conferences, lead coalitions, moderated and spoken on panels, run galas, built operations from scratch, and so much more.

Marisa will go on any adventure that includes swimming. She was born and raised on a dairy farm in Virginia, has a B.A. from Skidmore College, and lived in Philadelphia for many years before settling in Brooklyn.
